Description

3 Vintage mini bicycle License Plates
Small pressed and painted metal license plates from 3 different states.
Each is embossed with a key word or words that identify that state, and printed on the plates is the state name, an addition state identifier or saying at the very bottom and the year the license place was made.
1) Washington has the word "Volcanic" in embossed blue letters in the center and "Centennial Celebration" at the bottom.  The year "89" is in top right corner.
2)
Idaho has the words “Mash ‘Em” in embossed green letters in the center and "Famous Potatoes" at the bottom.  The year "1989" is in bottom right corner.
3)
Massachusetts has the word “Beantown” in embossed red letters in the center and "The Spirit of America" at the bottom.
Beantown is a nickname for Boston via Boston Baked Beans.  The year "89" is in bottom right corner.
I believe these approximately 4 3/4"–5” x 2" plates were give-away premiums included in some Post cereal boxes during the 1980s.  They are made of pressed metal that is painted on one side and have two small holes drilled at the top for mounting on bicycles or mini-bikes.
Mini license plates are in nice condition.  Although none of these were ever installed on a child's bike they were tossed around in their room for a few years, so there is slight paint loss -- especially along edges -- and a couple dings and dents to metal.
