This authentic, original, 19th century Windsor rocking cradle has been in the same family for four generations. It features a Windsor Comb Back atop both head and foot; round spindles on all sides; four slats on the bed; and four square corner posts. The rockers fit into carved slots in the posts where they are secured with screws. Side spindles slightly taper inward from rail to bed. Note the maker has taken care to rocker ends; posts, combs and rail. A repair has been made to one post where it fits the rocker; one spindle is sanded along its side and one of the four bed slats is probably not original as slightly thinner than the other three. This antique is sold for its historic and decorative value for display use -it does not meet current safety standards to accommodate a real baby!

CONDITION (as stated above):
19th century solid wood cradle is fully intact, structurally sound and functional. Surfaces, especially the top rail on one side, are well worn with scratches, nicks, chips, abrasions and minor surface indentations. One bed slat has a short (2 inches) surface crack. The side of one spindle has been sanded flat and the end of one post is mended where it attaches to the rocker. O
ne of the four bed slats is slightly thinner than the other three, although this is only apparent under scrutiny -it was likely replaced early on.
The cradle rocks smoothly and stands level. Carved edges of the posts; rockers; combs and rail are all smooth and rounded. Excellent hand made, one-of-a-kind craftsmanship. Aged patina is beautiful. This is a clean and odor free item.

this piece is listed as Pick Up Only at our location in Brockport, NY, although we do offer some delivery options (see below.) Brockport is located 20 minutes from Rochester, 45 minutes from Buffalo and an hour & 1/2 from the Canadian border. We are roughly 6 hours from NYC, 6 hours from Columbus, Ohio and 7.5 hours from Washington, D.C.
DELIVERY SERVICE:
we can provide box truck delivery within a radius of 6-7 hours from our location in Brockport, NY. As another option - we can meet you or your shipping contractor in Washington, D.C. (a 7.5 hour drive for us.) We charge the actual round trip price of gas (receipts provided) and a very reasonable hourly rate.
