Antique 19th century superb quality Chinese or Vietnamese polearm, spear with a rare wavy blade.The hand-forged steel-head is formed of three individual parts. A sturdy tapering undulating steel blade of the diamond cross-section with square ricasso block, a hand-forged and pierced steel guard in the form of the four-leaf clover, and an elongated cone-shaped socket pierced with a hole for the rivet.
Identically shaped spears were used in China and Vietnam. So, in many sources, this type of spear is described as a Vietnamese spear, but in others as a Chinese spear, sometimes even experts cannot tell where the trident actually originated, in China or Vietnam.
The trident is fitted into a wooden pole with, which is a modern replacement.
MEASUREMENTS:
The overall length, including pole: 192 cm. (75.59 inches).
The overall length of the steel-head, including socket: 33.5 cm. (13.19 inches).
Length of the wavy blade: 28.2 cm (11.1inches).
CONDITION: The steel-head is in very good condition showing age and usage.
