    Description

    TOMBSTONE ARIZONA TERRITORY SHERIFF BADGE
    MADE IN U.S.A.
    Historical reference:
In 1881 Cochise County was formed from the eastern part of Pima
County, with Tombstone Arizona as the County seat. John Behan, Sheriff
of Tombstone, was the original wearer of this badge.
Shortly after Behan became sheriff, Virgil Earp was appointed as City Marshal. The Earps had a conflict with the Clantons and the McLaurys, while Behan supported them. Behan also had an interest in Josephine Sarah Marcus, but she was sweet on Wyatt Earp, so Behan held a special dislike for Wyatt. After the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, Behan arrested Virgil, Wyatt, and Morgan Earp, and Doc Holliday for the murders of Billy Clanton and Tom and Frank McLaury, but the Judge ruled that their actions were justified.
